Coogee Beach
Coogee Beach and the surrounding area has become affectionately known as the 'Seaside Village' of Sydney. With shimmering blue water and stunning parks, Coogee Bay has developed into one of the most popular and beautiful beaches of Sydney. The friendly atmosphere of the beach and the trendy cafe culture that surrounds the the bay reflect Coogee's diversity as an area offering many different experiences to suit each and every visitor to the bay.
The baths that surround the beach reflect the historic development of this famous recreational district of Sydney. These baths are still enjoyed by the many visitors to Coogee Beach each year. Occasionally it is also possible to view the remaining sections of the original pier structure that was erected in 1928 to match the amusement theme of the beaches in England. The amusement pier at Coogee Beach was eventually demolished in 1934 as the sea continually testes the foundations of the pier, and eventually won the battle. At the northern end of Coogee Beach stands the dome like building housing the Beach Palace Hotel. This building is not the original, but does symbolise the original dome like structure that stood in its place as the Coogee Beach Aquarium from 1887 until 1986.
